Flies are small insects equipped with a pair of wings and a dumbbell. The presence of these creatures is often seen around humans and even on some occasions can interfere with activities. It is not uncommon for many business places and even housing to use **fly extermination services** to solve this pest problem.

There are many types of flies in the world, and these 5 types of flies are commonly found in Indonesia:

**1. Fruit Flies**

Fruit flies have a size of approximately 0.3 cm with a brownish yellow color and have a life cycle of 8-10 days. Fruit flies are relatively slow moving and less attracted to light. It is easily found in fermented carbohydrate residues of food and moist air. This fly is seen hovering over fruits because its function is to accelerate the decay of fruits and vegetables.

**2. Green Flies**

Green flies are strong fliers with a life cycle of up to 99 days. It is active in warm temperatures and hot weather as it is attracted to light. It can be categorized as a dangerous species as it can spread a variety of bacteria and diseases, including diphtheria and salmonellosis, through contamination of food or beverages. Its habitat is in foul-smelling or unpleasant places, such as garbage bins or animal waste. In fact, this green fly is often present on decomposing animal carcasses.

**3. House Flies**

This housefly, which is always present near human settlements, is about 0.5-0.8 cm long, with a gray chest adorned with 4 stripes, and a yellow belly. The fly's eyes, composed of thousands of lenses, provide a wide view that makes it difficult to catch.

Habitats are moist and contain organic substances such as garbage, livestock manure, human feces, vegetable scraps, rotting garbage.

**4. Waste Flies or Moths**

The sewage fly is not a strong flyer and is strongly attracted to light. It is the smallest in size compared to other species, being only 2 millimeters long with fine hairs on its wings. Easily found near its breeding sites such as sewage drains and dirty puddles of sewage water.

**5. Horse Flies**

It is considered a pest because its bite can cause weight loss in livestock. Horseflies also have the ability to bite humans with teeth that can cut through the skin.
