Have you ever woken up from sleep with red bumps on your skin that feel itchy, especially on the face, neck and shoulders? It could be that the cause is bed bugs that perch on your mattress.

It’s almost invisible shape makes it difficult for you to expel it. Adult bed bugs are about 6mm in size, while their eggs and larvae are smaller, making them difficult to detect. They do not fly or jump but can crawl quickly and are very good at hiding.

Bed bugs are brown blood-sucking insects. This pest sucks blood at night when we sleep. Body heat and carbon dioxide that blows into the attraction that makes bed bugs perch on the human body. They come from hiding places that are all around us. These small insects usually hide and nest in damp places such as mattress edges, crevices in bed frames, under carpets, behind figures, sofas, folding mattresses, suitcases, cracks or holes in floors and walls.

The presence of bed bugs does not always reflect the condition of the cleanliness of the house. They can easily move from one piece of furniture to another. They are also commonly found in hotels and apartments, where they can creep from room to room through carpet, pipes and wall cracks.

Check the mattress, mattress frame, and around the bed area for bed bugs. Look more closely if you see a brown swarm, it could be their larval shell. You may also see a few drops of blood on the sheets and smell the musty odor that is common with adult bed bugs.

If you buy used furniture, you should check it carefully before bringing it into the house. If you like to travel, try also checking hotel mattresses and headrests. Move your suitcase from the floor to the closet shelf to avoid bed bugs that might crawl onto it. This pest breeds quickly, so it needs to be controlled.
